Sunday Devotional

A few years ago, we went to Disney World. What an amazing trip, and we can’t wait to go back someday. But I’m going to pick on my son Alex for a moment here. Before every ride, his anxiety would begin to show. As we meandered through the lines, it was a rapid fire list of questions. How long is this ride? How big are the drops? Does it go fast? Is it dark? After we answered them all the first time, he would repeat the same questions. Perhaps he was testing my wife and I to make sure we were being completely forthcoming about the ride ahead. In every case, we assured him that although the ride might look scary at first, he would be thrilled to have done it when it was over.

Sure enough, after each ride, he would say “that one was my favorite!”

Romans 5: 3-5

...we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint...

In our human condition today, we often question what is happening in our lives. How long is it? How big are the drops? Is it dark? Whether you are facing a renewed journey towards better health, or are simply seeking a new hope in life away from the stress of this current culture. Jesus Christ responds in loving care, and assures us that no matter the anxiety of life, when we are finished, through our faith in Him, we will say “that one was my favorite”.

Be encouraged today. Through the trials and struggles of your life emerges a new hope and hope does not disappoint.

In Faith,
