CHANGE YOUR STATE CHALLENGE
A HEALTHIER YOU IN 2022

THE CHANGE YOUR STATE CHALLENGE IS A WEIGHT LOSS BASED CHALLENGE WITH THE GOAL TO REDUCE OBESITY LEVELS AND IMPROVE LIFESTYLES OF INDIVIDUALS IN HARRISON COUNTY. 

TO ENTER/WIN THE CHALLENGE, THE INDIVIDUAL MUST RESIDE OR WORK IN HARRISON COUNTY, MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OF AGE, MAY NOT BE PREGNANT, AND THEIR FINAL WEIGHT MUST NOT PUT THEM BELOW AN 18.5 BMI, ACCORDING TO THE CDC'S BMI CALCULATOR. 

 

PRIZES FALL INTO TWO CATEGORIES.  GRAND PRIZES AND MONTHLY PRIZES.  EACH ARE OUTLINED BELOW.

GRAND PRIZES TOTALING $12,000 WILL BE BROKEN OUT AS FOLLOWS:

  • 6 WINNERS WITH THE HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF WEIGHT LOSS WIN:

    • TOP 3 MALES (1ST PLACE - $2,500, 2ND PLACE - $2,000, 3RD PLACE - $1,500)

    • TOP 3 FEMALE (1ST PLACE - $2,500, 2ND PLACE - $2,000, 3RD PLACE - $1,500)

  • INITIAL WEIGH IN JAN 3-JAN 15 between the hours of 9am and 8pm. 

  • FINAL BODY SCAN DATES MAY 2-14

MONTHLY PRIZES

IN ADDITION TO THE GRAND PRIZES, INDIVIDUALS WILL BE INCENTIVIZED TO WEIGH-IN MONTHLY AT WV FITNESS 24. WHILE THE MONTHLY WEIGH-INS ARE NOT A REQUIREMENT TO BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN THE GRAND PRIZE, TO BE ELIGIBLE TO WIN A MONTHLY PRIZE, YOU MUST HAVE WEIGHED FOR THAT PARTICULAR MONTH.  

 

ALL INDIVIDUALS WHO COMPLETE THE RESPECTIVE MONTHLY WEIGH-IN AS OUTLINED BELOW WILL BE PUT INTO A DRAWING TO WIN $500.  IF THE WINNER HAS REACHED THE GOAL NUMBER OF POUNDS LOST FOR THE THAT MONTH, THAT PERSON WILL WIN AN ADDITIONAL $500 FOR A TOTAL OF $1000. 

*THERE WILL BE A BONUS PRIZE OPTION FOR MAY.  IF THE PERSON WHOSE NAME IS DRAWN FOR THE MAY WEIGH-IN COMPLETED ALL THE OTHER MONTHLY WEIGH-INS (FEB, MARCH AND APRIL) THEY WILL RECEIVE A BONUS $500. THAT'S A TOTAL PRIZE POSSIBILITY OF $1,500 IF THEY ALSO MEET THE 10LB WEIGHT LOSS GOAL FOR MAY.

  • FEBRUARY GOAL: 2 LBS TOTAL LOSS

  • MARCH GOAL: 5 LBS TOTAL LOSS

  • APRIL GOAL:  8 LBS TOTAL LOSS

  • *MAY GOAL: 10LBS TOTAL LOSS 

DATES FOR THE MONTHLY WEIGH-INS WILL BE SENT VIA EMAIL AND POSTED TO THE FACEBOOK GROUP SOMETIME IN JANUARY.

Q: What if I am not available to weigh-in when the final weigh-in dates are announced?  

A.  You must weigh-in during the dates above. If you are out of town and absolutely unable to weigh-in during that time, please contact us and we can make special arrangements for you to weigh-in the week before.  There will be no weigh-ins after the above dates.  No exceptions. 

Q: What can I expect when I come to weigh-in?

A.  You will need to bring your driver’s license with your home address.  Those who live or work in Harrison county may participate.  You will have your weight and height taken and recorded along with your contact information.  

Q: Who will see my weight? 

A. Only the person weighing you in and a few other administrative members of Healthy Harrison will see your weight. However, if you are one of the Top 3 Male or Female winners we will reveal your starting and finishing weight at the awards ceremony.

Q: What kind of support can I expect throughout the competition?

A.  We encourage everyone to download the Change Your State app (name change from Healthy Harrison happening in early 2022).  The app will provide a multitude of resources in the areas of Mind, Move and Eat.  We also encourage you to use the app to help establish your micro goals and track these daily goals to help with accountability.  In addition, we will open a private Facebook group – be on the lookout for an email about joining the group.  If you don’t receive an email by January 14th, please message us (see contact info below).  We highly encourage you to join this group.  This will be a source of inspiration, encouragement, mini-challenges and more!  It will serve as a support system among your fellow competition participants and help keep you up-to-date with information on the competition.

While this program – the competition, the app and the Facebook group is totally free, unfortunately we do not have the resources to offer free one-on-one coaching. If that is something you feel like you need to be successful, we can help point you in the right direction with referrals to additional resources. Simply reach out to one of the program leads and they’ll make recommendations based on what you’re looking for (nutrition, personal training, etc.) 

While we hope to provide you with some great tools and resources, it is important to remember that ultimately only YOU are in charge of your health and weight loss journey!

Q:  I am ready to sign up!  How do I do that?  

A.  You can sign up via our website at www.changeyourstate.com  After signing up, you will then need to head to WV Fitness 24 between January 3rd and January 15th. You may weigh in between the hours of 9am and 8pm. We recommend that you wear light weight clothing. You will be asked to remove your shoes, empty your pockets and remove any outer layers of clothing (coats, sweatshirts, etc.)
